Documentation of Habitats ~ ITP Winter Show 2001

Habitats, 2001

Habitats is a video and sound installation that tells the story of a woodland sprite transplanted into the city and the her habitats in which she lives. She chooses both natural and artificial environments to perch and observe the urban landscape - above the frantic pace below. The sprite's "voice" greets the viewer with the sound of tinkling bells as the video input senses the approaching participant. The pitch, tempo and tone of the bells varies depending upon the proximity of the participant to the sprite's personal space. Habitats is the story of a country girl in the city, conflicted by city life.
