Oasis is a video installation consisting of a video projected through rippling water in a shallow tank. It is intended as a store window display to offer a cool visual oasis during the summertime to passersby. A proximity sensor discerns the participant’s presence, triggering a small motor to dip a plastic rod into the water which produces the rippling effect. A sense of calm and serenity is evoked by the soft, blue light of the video and the soothing sound of water.
