Shadow Play is a whimsical investigation of light and space. Originally conceived as a camera obscura, the intent is to offer a playful, engaging experience that elicits movement and a heightened connection to the space by producing a distinct, if temporary, silhouette portrait of the participant. The installation combines primed canvas covered with phosphorescent paint, a series of lights and the motion of the viewer to create impressions of shadows and movement. By eliminating the camera and the photographic development process, the immediacy of portraiture is emphasized.
